📣 NEW CLASS: How to Pack & Unpack Your Bike for Travel 🧳
Because panic packing doesn't help anyone
LET’S UNPACK THAT
I'm really excited to test this new class because being able to reassemble your bike when you've reached your starting point is KEY to having a happy bike for the rest of your holiday.
There are lots of videos out there on how to pack your bike up, and it's often the only thing we think of. But what happens when you get off the plane/train/automobile?
Reassembly can make or literally break your bike.
Stripped crank threads, a stripped or bent mech hanger, over/under-tightened stem bolts, a squashed/cracked frame or fork - these things will stop you from having a good time.
ENTER: HOW TO PACK & UNPACK YOUR BIKE FOR TRAVEL
In this class we will cover:
Different ways you can pack your bike
What tools you might have to bring with you
How to use a torque wrench
What parts of the bike need to come off to be protected (and how to put them back on!)
How to take off/put on pedals
How to remove a rear derailleur and install it safely
How to loosen and reset an A-headset and stem
How to protect disc brake pads
What to do if your disc brakes jam up
How to protect your frame/fork dropouts from bending/deforming
Please don't take this class the day before you travel - it's imperative that you give yourself some time (a couple weeks) to absorb and practice this knowledge!
Test class is £50 per person as we are figuring out course content, the order of things, the way we teach, and topics covered.
Date: Friday 17 May
Time: 11am - 2pm

GO FUND ME INCOMING
Would you like LBK to have another income stream to keep us afloat during these turbulent economic times?
If so, please set aside £10 to donate in our upcoming fundraiser.
We need funds to do a massive clearout, clean up, and refit. New tools, new parts washer, maybe even a bike wash station!?
The sooner we reach our goal, the quicker we can get started to reopen in time for summer.
All it takes is for each person on this mailing list to give £10!
Stay tuned…
A message from a new cycling group in South London:
“Bike Dykes is a casual cycling group for non-binary, women & trans cyclists.
All bikes and mixed abilities are welcome. It doesn't matter what kit, gear or bike you have - it's a space for you
We host monthly rides in London between 25-60km and ride at a conversational pace (no-drop) and we run intro to bike mechanics workshops.”

The moral panic over college/university campus peaceful protests is a GREAT distraction from the horrors continually unfolding in Gaza.
The Gaza Sunbirds have successfully received visas from the Belgian government, but are still waiting for the Italian government.
Please sign this petition, you can even write the embassies directly.
And you can donate to the Gaza Sunbirds Paralympics fund here.
That’s all for now friends. Glad that we’ve finally gotten some warmer weather! I’m so pleased to have shed my massive winter dry robe layer (finally). Last week was rough, ngl.
Looking forward to my seedlings coming in the mail and planting them out (I have no shame, I have no south facing windows). I got tomatoes, onions, rocket and a Japanese winter squash. My spinach is getting decimated already - I’ve been spraying it with a homemade soap spray but if anyone has any other natural gardening tips please share!
I leave you with our covid masterclass on how to pack/unpack your bike. Be sure to sign up for our test class if you’re interested in helping me design a great course!
Ride on,
Jenni x
